Foundations of teacher education in CALL

Foundations of teacher education in CALL

The scope of CALL education

Its scope is still focused on:

  • The production of training materials for classroom teachers
  • The specialized literature on CALL teacher education
  • Frameworks that link CALL practice to particular approaches
  • The increasing use of online collaborative learning techniques

Call is like a driver of a CLASSS. In which the use of materials will be really important due to their collaborative techniques where teachers are guides, and the students are the center.

CALL education as a whole should have a wider mission

Learning objectives for specific role combinations that can then serve to inform CALL education curricula

The state of CALL teacher education

Regardles the benefits of CALL, it also has some cons that will help trained teachers when using CALL.

The production of training and support materials directly oriented toward the classroom will help teachers
Frameworks that attempt to define CALL practice on the basis of principles derived from particular language teaching approaches, especially those supported by SLA (second language acquisition) research

The use of online collaborative learning techniques in CALL will help teachers when speaking of the quality of the transfer of skills and expertise from formal courses to the language classroom and language target.

Teaching and teacher education standards

Teachers in training or teachers fully prepared for giving classes must take into consideration the following aspects:

  • Teachers are focused on students and their learning.
  • Teachers know the subjects they teach and know how to teach those subjects to students.
  • Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning in the classroom.

  • Teachers are members of learning communities such as the parents.
  • Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience.

  1. We know that in one way or another this innovation makes education a bit easier, but as long as the teacher is trained and can make this innovation something new for the student, that is why updating the teacher day by day is very important.
